Ceramic onlays and inlays are used to restore teeth that have large cavities or other defects, but leave more natural tooth structure in place.  They represent a modern, conservative treatment alternative to crowns.  All-ceramic restorations are stronger and more durable than fillings and can provide a more beautiful, natural appearance to heavily restored teeth.  These restorations are custom made by a professional dental laboratory and are permanently cemented into the tooth by your dentist.  Onlays and inlays are not appropriate for all teeth.  Your dentist will discuss all treatment options with you to decide if All-ceramic restorations are right for you.
